STORM PLAYOFF HOPES FADE IN 2-1 LOSS TO LIONSIDE

It was a do or die must win the game for the Storm, with the last game for the storm in the Spring season they found themselves two points from the playoffs. Sporting San Fernando who was two points ahead to the Storm sitting in the third and last playoff spot. 
The storm last game of the Spring season was facing Lionside FC who stood between them and the UPSL playoffs. The game was about evenly matched as is was a back and forth game so evenly matched the first 34 minutes ended 0-0. 
The second half was an exciting half as both teams due they had 45 minutes to decide a winner.  It was Lionside who struck first in the 67th minute of play with a cross from the left or the goal that crossed the goal mouth and right to Lionside midfielder who pushed it across the goal line pass Storm keeper Miguel Granados to gain the lead. 
It was 11 minutes later in the 78th minute when Storm's John Lopez had the ball 55 yards from goal and put the ball in the air directly in front of the net within  6 yards. Captain Brett Croft came from the right side and leaped straight up and meet the ball in midair and headed the ball that went directly to the back of the net drawing the Storm even. 
The battle continued with again a back and forth action and looked like both teams drawing a point apiece. Then Lionside on the attack passed across the net and right as the game ended Lionside managed to seek the cross in and take the win as the games final Whitsel blew. 
The storm will now prepare for the UPSL Fall Pro-Premier season that will begin this September.
